We stop new Gib for builders and homeowners, from a single room to a whole house. Every joint is taped, filled and sanded by hand. Most jobs are finished to Level 4, and how good that looks comes down to the sanding, so it's the part we never rush.
- New builds and extensions
- Renovations and alterations
- Level 4 finish, sanded properly
- Level 5 skim coat for older walls
- Square and bullnose corners
- Cornice and coving
- Wet area linings
- Ceilings, including high stud
- Sanding with dust extraction
Why the sanding matters
Light coming across a wall at a low angle, from a big window or a downlight close to the wall, shows up every scratch left from sanding. A rushed sand leaves marks you'll see once the paint's on. Sand it properly and the same Level 4 finish looks smooth, even in harsh light.
Move the light across the wall below and switch between the two to see the difference.
Level 5, where the whole wall gets skimmed, is mostly for older walls. Think old wallpaper coming off and leaving the surface rough underneath. We'll tell you if your walls need it before we start.
Repairs and skim coating
Cracks from the house moving, holes from shifting furniture, or a wall that's been patched one too many times. We'll fix the bits that need it, or skim the whole wall flat again. Once it's painted you won't be able to tell where the damage was.
- Settlement and earthquake cracks
- Holes and dents
- Water damage
- Skim coating old plaster walls
- Skimming after wallpaper removal
- Lining over tired walls
- Patch jobs before painting
